Simply put, Qimage and our passion for the product lives on, but we're moving forward with an exciting new product called Qimage Ultimate with great new possibilities. Those who bought Qimage in (for example) the last year knew what they were getting and that product is still supported and it will receive future upgrades, just not at the pace of Qimage Ultimate nor will the feature set of the old Qimage continue to expand indefinitely for free, without bounds like it has in the past. I think most people realize that it isn't reasonable to buy a product and then expect that all future innovations by that company be put into the same product and/or provided for free. I understand that the people who purchased Qimage more recently may feel more let down than, say, someone who has been getting free upgrades for 10 years but I think most people understand that this is technology and there will always be advancement. This is the point where we realize that we can't continue to lump everything we do under the "Qimage" umbrella and provide it for free. Now not only is it the highest quality batch printing tool available, but it has become a raw tool, photo organizer, batch processor, offsite printing prep tool, flash card downloader, and much more.Īt some point, we as a company just had to face the fact that we have something now that has far exceeded the Qimage concept and the free lifetime upgrade policy. When they bought Qimage, it was nothing more than a batch printing program.
Part of the problem is that we have users who have upgraded for 5 or even 10 years. Actually, we probably held out far too long because the Qimage of 2010 is far different from the Qimage of 1998. Other company in existence with that policy while at the same time greatly stretching the imagination regarding what you could still call "Qimage". Let's face it though, the Qimage free-lifetime-upgrade model was conceived in 1998 and to be quite honest, we've held out longer than That is to be expected and I understand completely. Of course, it's inevitable that feelings will run the entire gamut between disappointment and complete understanding.
